Spencer Neff joins WMG as director of media relations
Today the Watkins Motorsports Group is proud to announce an addition to our team of racing professionals by introducing Spencer Neff as WMG's Director of Media Relations. Neff becomes the fourth representative of the Watkins Motorsports Group, along with co-owners John and Tanner Watkins and the Director of Technology, Phil Watkins.
Neff arrives at WMG familiar with his surroundings from contributing to Open-Wheels.com, a partner of the Watkins Motorsports Group and a website owned by TW. Open-Wheels covers the Verizon IndyCar Series as well as the Mazda Road to Indy ladder series.
"Being able to join Tanner at Open-Wheels.com has already been a tremendous honor," Neff stated. "The fact I get to do that and be a part of this new experience with Watkins Motorsports Group is exciting, to say the least.
"Auto racing has been a passion of my since attending my first races at Nazareth Speedway as a young child, near my birthplace of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. That passion has stuck with me my entire life, and being able to parlay that passion was what has driven me to pursue a career in motorsports journalism."
A Purdue University graduate with a degree in mass communication and media studies, Neff's addition to the Watkins Motorsports Group stable solidifies the WMG network of social media and website coverage for friends and family of the team.
In this capacity, Spencer will provide in-race updates for team drivers, produce race recaps and potentially contribute articles to the team's annual media guide.
"We are extremely excited to bring Spencer on board as the fourth team member of the Watkins Motorsports Group in 2018," said co-owner and driver Tanner Watkins. "Spencer has done a fine job as lead contributor at Open-Wheels and his dedication to motorsport is evident in his Verizon IndyCar Series coverage.
"By adding Spencer to WMG it will allow for an expanded presence on social media during races and in the coverage of our various special events, leagues and championships. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this team."
Neff covered his first race for the Watkins Motorsports Group today by recapping last night's opening round of the ISDC Rigshare World Series. You can check out his write-up here.
