WMG "Goes Gold" for 4th ISDC Indianapolis 500

While a Watkins Motorsports Group car will start in a familiar place for Monday night’s ISDC Indianapolis 500, it will be carrying some unfamiliar colors.

Instead of our traditional light blue livery with red and white trim, we are running a special Avery Huffman Defeat DIPG Foundation paint scheme supporting the “Be Strong, Go Gold” Gala being held this October. The second annual event will feature a silent auction and a dessert dash, with the proceeds benefitting the Foundation in Avery’s name.

The Avery Huffman Defeat DIPG Foundation was established in 2016 to raise awareness and funds for research to find a cure for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, to Defeat DIPG and to honor the legacy of our hero, Avery Huffman.

In using a new color combination on our cars we wanted to not only honor the Foundation and its event, but additionally honor one of the most respected drivers in motorsports history. We have brought out the same car that I used during the inaugural ISDC Indianapolis 500 that finished runner-up by just a few inches… an Ayrton Senna Lotus throwback scheme inspired by his 1985-87 Formula One cars.

It is such an honor to not only run a car similar to Senna’s John Player Special Lotus, but to recognize and promote the Gala and all the wonderful things that Brandon and Amanda Huffman do with the foundation in their daughter’s name, it is humbling. At WMG we are very proud to support the “Defeat DIPG” cause and will continue to partner with the Avery Huffman Defeat DIPG Foundation through next year’s iRacing Indianapolis 500 in May.

The 4th ISDC Stock Car Manager Indianapolis 500 will be held on Monday, September 25 with the green flag dropping at approximately 8:15 PM Central time. The race will be broadcasted live by Off Camber TV (link below) and WMG will provide an in-car camera for my car, with a link to be sent out the evening of the race.
