WMG to Compete in CFRL IndyCar Championship

ALBION, IL - The Watkins Motorsports Group is excited to announce that both drivers will be competing in the upcoming inaugural season of the CFRL IndyCar Championship on iRacing.

CFRL (Checkered Flag Racing League) is an organization that sanctions racing on the iRacing web service, with a history of competition hosting dating back to July 2013. Known for their NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series league which debuted in 2015, the league is shifting its interests to running a full-time IndyCar season as their top-tier of racing.

The 2017 CFRL IndyCar Championship will feature a diverse schedule of 12 races, each ran on Tuesday evenings at 9:00 PM eastern/8:00 PM central time. The season kicks off on July 11 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course configuration and concludes on October 10 at Watkins Glen International. Featuring 5 road courses and 7 ovals, the season will also see the first CFRL Indianapolis 500 commence on September 5. All races are scheduled to be broadcasted and links will be provided on race day through WMG social media channels.

John and Tanner Watkins will both be present during the championship running the Avery Huffman Defeat DIPG Foundation as our primary partner. Tanner will use the number 3 for the season and John will use 6. The schedule for the season will be listed below, and stay tuned for additional league announcements this summer!
